Born for the WWW...
When people ask me which state in India I'm from, I do not have an answer, for I'm a Sindhi.

In short, I am stateless, just like HTTP. Hee hee.

FWIW, I hate geeks.

I'm stateless too. I'm half-bong and half-mallu. Dad's bong from Kolkata, mom's mallu from Kerala. I've not lived in either of the two states...and have lived 2 yrs at a time all over the country. So ya...when someone asks me that question, I don't have an answer...and say 'I'm Indian!'

My mothertongue is Marathi, but it's a dialect called "Tanjore Marathi". I am from Chennai, settled in Bangalore and have no roots whatsoever in Maharashtra. To the Bangaloreans, I'm a Madrasi and to the folks "back home", I'm a converted Bangalorean.

India has too many divisions, LOL.

maybe it depends who is asking. People ask me where I am from and I say San Francisco since I love that city and I have lived there for 15 years. I could also say Ohio because my parents live there and I was born there. It never occurs to me to say Hungarian because father was born in Hungary. So I think if you are from HYD, then saying Hyderabadi answers the question. Being American and living in India, people ask me that all the time, and I often ask them and usually they say they are from where ever we happen to be.

I am a diasporic Indian. A proud gujju. Then again a Mumbai-ite.
A melbournian to the Sydney siders. Oh well. Who cares?
(For marriage purposes, we usually look at the region in Guj, religious subcaste and the cultural subcaste within the religion in the opposite party. Mine is a perfect match, except for the cultural subcaste. Then again, who cares? I like the boi!!)

On another note, I am sure Hang Kang feels like home too? ;-)
