What I miss most about Hyderabad...location: Secunderabad, IndiaCurrent Mood:
bitchy
The fact that I can go clubbing almost every weekend, with zero planning. Bangalore messes me up no end in this regard.

Just a thought...Current Mood:
jealous
You know those people who have a social circle going, who hit the best lounges and clubs, and party every other day? I don't understand them. So much so, I am
actually jealous of them. :|

The week that was...Don't remember what I did differently on Monday, but it was an easy day at work, as I awaited Tuesday.
On Tuesday, a few folks from our team in Sunnyvale hopped down to Bangalore. The resulting three days weren't just about meetings and decisions, but a lot of celebration and partying too. It was the first time I was interacting in person with colleagues from abroad, making it a valuable learning experience, accompanied by a ton of fun. Here's a recollection.
-
Tuesday: Dinner at
Samarkhand Samarkand on Infantry Road, followed by pubbing at
Hypnos next door.
Samarkhand Samarkand essentially serves Afghani food, much like Hyderabad's
Harahs, albeit in a different and more apt ambience. The deejay at Hypnos played a trancified version of Metallica's
Enter Sandman, along with some other decent remixes.
-
Wednesday: The visitors wanted to try out traditional south-Indian food, so we dined at
Karavali on Residency Road. Some of the food was much too spicy for my taste buds, while the appams were well-prepared. For drinks,
Taika was the place. The music there sucks, and we didn't get a place to sit. The dance floor was tiny too. Crowd appeared to be the page three types. To add to this, an entry fee (not a cover charge) for men, entry being free for women.
Came back to office and completed re-writing
friendsCollage. It's less heavier on server resources, and much, much faster, thanks to a mighty silly, cheap, but effective way of caching userpic URLs.

-
Thursday: Lounging at
13th Floor, atop the Barton Centre on MG Road, followed by dinner at one of my favourite restaurants in Bangalore,
Hyd Mahal, one of the few places where the biryani is palatable. Drank
Power Horse at the lounge,
Red Bull's better any day!
-
Friday: Went to work at 15:00, and wrote some neat code that gave me the feeling that I had learnt better from past mistakes.
-
Saturday: After sleeping at 05:30, managed to wake up only at 18:30. Guess that's the best way of spending weekends.
spo0nman called for a party at his house, and I managed to reach the far-far-away-place by paying an
insane amount of money to the auto-rickshaw driver. But the party/get-together was worth it. Left for the office from there at 00:15, and reached home from office at 02:45 today.
Added to everything written above, I finished viewing seasons one and two
and three of F.R.I.E.N.D.S., which leaves only season three and four waiting to be watched. Before that, I'd rather complete watching all seasons of
Coupling, followed by a season or two of
Sex and the City. (The latter show is cool. Thanks,
luv_serendipity.)
On the technical reading front, I removed all syndicated accounts from my LJ friends list, shifting them to
My Yahoo! instead. As the planet spins on its axis,
360's getting better for social networking.
Long post after aeons. Feels good...
